Bulgaria is a Country with Great Culture

Thracian tombs, gold treasures, medieval towns, sanctuaries … they can be found very hard, as there is almost no information about them and they are not advertised very well. There are a lot of museums with rich collections and frugal inscriptions in Bulgarian only, some of which are unavailable during weekends. There is a valuable cultural remaining undeveloped territory for the tourism industry.

So it seems that the Bulgarian cultural tourism at the moment (although according to official figures, last year it ranked third in after offering sea and ski tourism) accounts for 11.1%

At least 30% (approximately 250 mnl. Euros) of investment in tourism should be address to the cultural monuments, say the authors of a strategic plan for its development. Their return on such an investment will be around 1 billion annually.

Cultural Tourism Plan was prepared by Italian and Bulgarian experts from the Ministry of Culture in the previous government. According to Todor Chobanov, Deputy Minister of Culture, the document is well thought out framework that will support the development of this sector and conservation of ancient heritage. Now the strategy is being discussed again. After the Ministry of Economy and Energy ruled on it, it will be submitted to the government and explained by the cultural minister.
