Daily Photo: Explosions Out Our Window

Posted by seeninstl on Jul 26, 2008

D.J. has been in New York for almost two weeks, and I have been busy finishing up my masters thesis (in Science and the Public). So there haven’t been many posts lately. At some point, I expect I will be too busy to post much, and he may take over some.

Here is a picture tonight of fireworks that D.J. took from our living room in the Syndicate. Yes, we have a fireworks fetish. That is me lying on the back of the couch.

Daily Photo: Levee Fireworks from our window

At the risk of making people think I have a fireworks fetish, I thought I would post one of the pictures we just took outside our window of tonight’s Live OFF the Levee firework display. It was pretty much the same drill as last night, but from a different vantage.

After the concert last night, there was a magnificent fireworks display right across the street. It looked apocalyptic at times. D.J. was snapping away and from the look of some of these photos, he is getting used to using the new camera.

Daily Photo: Tripod Pics of Fireworks on July 5th

Posted by seeninstl on Jul 6, 2008

St. Louis has fireworks all weekend of July Fourth, and last night we used a tripod for the first time to take some longer exposure shots, setting up behind the Old Courthouse in Keiner Plaza whereas on July Fourth we were in front of it. We are still learning how to best use the camera (more camera than we have ever had but we will grow into it). Here are some of our favorite shots.

Daily Photo: July 4th Fireworks

We got to try out D.J.’s birthday present last night during fireworks. First we went to Fair St. Louis, which is one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in the United States. Then we parked our butts on the grass along with zillions of others to enjoy the fanfare explosions. Here are a few of my favorite shots from last night (I can’t remember whether D.J. or I took them) but I especially like the one of the boy silhouetted and cheering during the finale. For tonight’s fireworks we are going to use a tripod, which we still have to run and buy.
