Daily Photo: Riverfront Open

Posted by seeninstl on Jul 11, 2008

Earlier today during a short lunch break from the hours of recording and editing this week’s episode, we walked down to the riverfront and it was nice to see that Leonor K Sullivan Blvd is now completely open to car traffic. They are even doing bike and buggy rentals down there again, and are starting up the river cruises this weekend. I love the shadow of the Gateway Arch in these photos.

Daily Photo: Mississippi Falling (Flood Clean-Up)

The cleanup after the flood is happening at a steady pace. Leonor K Sullivan Blvd is not only visible again, but will soon be ready to drive on I think. This is a far cry from the pictures we took when the flood was highest.

Daily Photo: Tripod Pics of Fireworks on July 5th

Posted by seeninstl on Jul 6, 2008

St. Louis has fireworks all weekend of July Fourth, and last night we used a tripod for the first time to take some longer exposure shots, setting up behind the Old Courthouse in Keiner Plaza whereas on July Fourth we were in front of it. We are still learning how to best use the camera (more camera than we have ever had but we will grow into it). Here are some of our favorite shots.

Daily Photo: July 4th Fireworks

We got to try out D.J.’s birthday present last night during fireworks. First we went to Fair St. Louis, which is one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in the United States. Then we parked our butts on the grass along with zillions of others to enjoy the fanfare explosions. Here are a few of my favorite shots from last night (I can’t remember whether D.J. or I took them) but I especially like the one of the boy silhouetted and cheering during the finale. For tonight’s fireworks we are going to use a tripod, which we still have to run and buy.

Welcome to Seen in St. Louis

Posted by seeninstl on May 1, 2008

St. Louis Arch from a riverboat one of our first weekends in town.

We recently arrived in the city and have some plans to celebrate it right. There is so much going on downtown, and this blog is our way of sharing our thoughts and ideas about and involvement with St. Louis’s downtown renaissance.

Topics we are interested in and plan to write about include urban walkability as opposed to suburban unwalkability, new business and community developments downtown, upcoming community events, volunteers opportunities, social issues specific to downtown including homelessness, public education, free adult education, building demolition and construction, etc etc.

We even aim to photoblog some of the amazing and quirky sights we have seen during our morning and evening walks around the downtown area. When we are feeling adventurous, we might even chime in about developments in a couple of the nearby neighborhoods to downtown, including the Central West End, University City, and the Soulard Neighborhood. But for the most part, our ramblings focus on downtown St. Louis.
